The problem
Cloud storage transfers in emerging markets fail constantly due to spotty 4G/5G, expensive data packs, and bandwidth limits. Direct hardware-to-hardware P2P transfer is the only reliable path.
What I did about it
Engineered high-throughput direct WiFi P2P and BLE discovery TurboModules in Kotlin and React Native (Expo 57). Zero cloud servers in the data pipeline; local encrypted vault storage for transferred payloads.
The outcome
10 GB single-file payload transfer capability with zero network data usage, instant local device pairing, and sub-second socket handshakes across Android devices.
A sovereign, offline-first transfer platform delivering enterprise-grade direct mesh transfer without any intermediary tracking or cloud dependency.
In detail
Setu is an offline-first peer-to-peer data sharing engine built for high-throughput mobile and desktop transfers without internet connectivity.
The core architecture pairs devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and negotiates a high-speed WiFi Direct peer group. File chunks stream directly over local TCP sockets with CRC32 integrity verification and zero cloud hops.
Encrypted vault management ensures received media and documents remain safe on-device with scoped storage permissions.
